Science Lesson 7.5
*Earth is surrounded by an envelope of gases called the atmosphere.
* The earth’s atmosphere is dry air composed of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapor and other gases.
*Water forms thin, feathery clouds of ice at the top of the troposphere.
*Water vapor-invisible tiny droplets of liquid water in the air.
*Clouds form when water vapor condenses out of the air.
*The stratosphere contains the ozone layer.
*The ionosphere is the lowest layer of the thermosphere.
*Most meteoroids burn up in the mesosphere.
*The four layers of the atmosphere are: Troposphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, and thermosphere.
*In the thermosphere, air temperatures can reach up to 1800 degrees Celsius.
*As a hot air balloon rises from 0km to 6km, air density decreases.
